I know it shouldn't affect me...
Saturday is my anime day. I stay up late so I can watch Samurai Champloo and InuYasha. Love those shows!! :)

At 11:00 is Futurama. I watch it just to kill time. Only 30 minutes before I see Jin! And InuYasha!!

Tonight's episode actually had me in tears. It's called "Jurrasic Bark" and for anyone who's rather sensitive (yes, jarlsberg71, I'm talking to you), I advise you not to watch it.

To recap, Fry and Bender find that archeologists have discovered an old pizzaria of the 20th century. It turns out to be Panucci's Pizza, where Fry worked before being frozen. He finds the fossilized remains of Seymour, his dog, on display. Fry campaigns to get Seymour back Farnsworth says he can use the cloning machine to bring Seymour back to life. Bender gets jealous and throws Seymour into molten lava. Fry is furious and Bender realizes what he has done and how much this meant to Fry. Bender jumps into the lava to save the dog. One of the main reasons I dislike Bender. He's a robot but is petty and jealous and annoying!

On December 31st 1999, Fry is about to leave to deliver the pizza to "I.C. Weiner" and Seymour doesn't want him to go. Fry promises he'll be back soon. Next day Fry isn't back and Seymour starts looking for him, finding him at the Cryogenics lab. Unfortunately neither the staff nor Fry's parents see Fry in the tube and Seymour is taken home by Mr. and Mrs. Fry.

Back in 3003, Bender saves Seymour and Farnsworth starts the cloning process. Fry finds out the dog was 15 when he died and realizes Seymour lived a long life after Fry was frozen. Fry thinks Seymour forgot about him a long time ago and stops the cloning.

Right, that would have been a fine ending to the episode. No worries, on with our lives. But...oh no...can't have that. The conclusion...

We see that Seymour waited outside Panucci's Pizza for Fry to come back for the rest of his life.

And I cried. I cried for a cartoon dog. I can't even think about it now, because I'll start crying again...I am now... They even played a sad song, "I Will Wait for You". I'm such a wuss...

"If it takes forever, I will wait for you
For a thousand summers, I will wait for you
'til you're back beside me, 'til I'm holding you
'til I hear you sigh here in my arms

Any where you run to, any where you go
Every day remember, how I love you so
In your heart believe what in my heart I know
that forever more I'll wait for you

The clock will tick away the hours one by one
And then the time will come when all the waiting's done
the time when you return and find me here and run
Straight to my waiting arms

If it takes forever, I will wait for you
For a thousand summers, I will wait for you
'til you're here beside me, 'til I'm touching you
and forever more cherish your love"

Feeling?: melancholyit's just a cartoon dog...

Don't feel bad, Steff, I would have been a blubbler-baby and cried too. :)

*hugs*

Yer not alone. I sniffled a little too. Methinks the writers of the show definately had a few good pets and it was tribute. It made me think of all my own animal companions and how they are frequently better friends than my human companions.

I would have been fine...no worries at all...if they hadn't shown Seymour at the end. Waiting and waiting. :( Whoa...I'm getting teary eyed now!!

Yeah, animals are WAY better than humans when it comes to friendship. The more people I meet, the more I love my animals.

AMEN to that!!! I can think of quite a few examples right now.
